Two bodies were pulled from the Ohio River in Kentucky within 14 hours of each other between Friday night and Saturday morning, mystifying law enforcement.
The first of the two bodies was found by boaters near the Purple People Bridge, according to Newsweek. The initial report immediately led to an investigation. Just 14 hours later, law enforcement returned to the Ohio River near Brent Spence Bridge after another body was pulled from the waters.
Neither of the deceased individuals have been identified at the time of writing. Two different law enforcement jurisdictions are investigating the deaths and are working closely together.
“Nothing has been ruled out,” Newport Police Captain Kevin Drohan said in a statement. “We’re still looking at all angles. We do treat it much like a homicide, where, you know, that’s how we start off the investigation.”

“We’re pretty certain they were on the bottom of the river, and with the events going on along the river, the current and turbulence from the boats brought them up to the surface,” Boone County Water Rescue Sergeant Donny Schuckmann noted.

Concerns of a serial killer targeting military-aged men leaving bars, drugging them and dumping their remains in bodies of water have plagued Chicago and Austin. One man told the Daily Mail that he believes he was targeted by a serial killer in Austin who drugged him and pushed him 25 feet off a bridge. The killer is being called the “Rainy Street ripper” and Austin police said Saturday that they are not looking for him, according to the San Antonio Current. (RELATED: ‘He Will Kill Again. At least 12 bodies have been recovered from Austin’s Lady Bird Lake and the Colorado River since 2022. A further 16 bodies have been found in the Chicago River and Lake Michigan over the same time period.
