LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Legislature will convene in Lincoln this week for the start of the 2010 legislative session.

The 60-day session begins Wednesday — the same day weather forecasters are calling for a new round of snow to blanket the already snow-packed Cornhusker state.

That won’t be the only chill lawmakers face this session. Members say spending must be kept in check as officials wait to see if the state is still suffering the effects of a sour economy.

In November, lawmakers met during a special session to slash the budget because of lower-than-expected revenues.

Some lawmakers are already preparing for more budget cuts this session, and Gov. Dave Heineman has said he expects more economic challenges this year.
