WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is honoring teachers who’ve been given awards for excellence.

It’s part of his “Educate to Innovate” campaign for excellence in the so-called STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and math.

The president will also announce key new partnerships in his campaign to help reach the administration’s goal of moving American students from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade.

Earlier in the day, the president will get his usual daily and economic briefings, plus meet with senior advisers in the Oval Office.
