Talk grows of 2 openings at High Court

If two U.S. Supreme Court vacancies materialize this spring, they may have the same impact on the nation’s capital that two heavy snowfalls have had this month: gridlock, paralysis and frayed tempers.

Stories raising the possibility that justices John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg may leave at roughly the same time have suddenly become part of the Washington conversation, already fueling nightmare scenarios of dragged-out battles between a weakened President Barack Obama and a fiercely contentious Senate over possible replacements.

I’m guessing that Stevens and Ginsburg see the chaos and failure of the last 12 months and either simply know they better get out while the President has some power left or have been told to go. It’s good that it’s these two. Thank goodness that, from a decision stand point, it’d be hard to appoint anyone that would make worse decisions.

And the President is having a bit of fun with this. He’s told all his White House leakers to spread the story that he’s DEFINITELY going to appoint the Clintons to the next two SCOTUS openings ‘To get them out of my hair’. And that ‘He’s not going to compromise or back down on this, and if the GOPers don’t like it, they can pound sand. No Clintons, NO EARMARKS FOR REPUBLICANS, I DON’T CARE IF THE WHOLE GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN. If they think I have to keep listening and dealing with their idiocy, I’ll give them a taste of what it’s like’. Good on yer, ‘Bama, it’s about time!

boy. did you folks see Ginsburgh at the SOTU? she looked positively corpse like. My guess is that ACLU and ACORN lawyers are tripping over one another to get their resume’s in.

If this happens I hope the President has two good nominees who aren’t mired in drama. He needs a win. Things are looking rather bleak for this administration.
