Record-breaking heat has taken hold of New York City. It was 90 degrees at 1:45 p.m. in Central Park, breaking the record set for April 7 in 1929. CBS 2 HD forecasters believe the mercury could rise even a couple more degrees, shattering the 81-year-old record.
The mark was already smashed for Newark, where temperatures reached 90 degrees — well above the previous record of 85.
It’s only early April, but the tri-state area felt more like July or August on Wednesday, as the region was hit with a taste of summer.
