A salute to salty food

Earlier this week, the Institute of Medicine issued a reported urging the  FDA enforce stricter thresholds for Sodium Chloride, or as real American’s refer to it — salt. While FDA Commissioner, Dr. Margaret Hamburg, said the department hopes for “voluntary reductions,” a former FDA commissioner is called for a “mandatory standard.”

Hamburg assures the Associated Press that reductions won’t be sudden, but anyone smacking their lips for a big ballpark pretzel might soon be shedding a few salty tears.

In case the near future promises to be filled with bland potato shavings and tofurkey bacon, The Daily Caller would like to take a minute to salivate over the finer-grain things in life.
