Seattle Police are investigating an officer for allegedly beating a man wrongfully accused of robbery. A video obtained by local news outlets, shows Officer Shandy Cobane stomping on a Hispanic man yelling “I’m going to beat the f*cking Mexican piss out of you homey. You feel me?” The man repeatedly said he had nothing to do with the robbery, despite being accosted by the police.
Police mistook the man as one of four robbers who stole from a man on the street. The victim of the robbery claimed that one of the men had a machete and took $40 from his wallet. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, in a statement, said “I watched the video and found it disturbing. Chief Diaz has informed me that SPD and the Office of Professional Accountability are investigating the incident. We won’t have any further statement until that process is complete.” Officer Cobane has since apologized for his actions.
