The Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Tuesday released two dashboard videos showing an incident that led to a trooper’s resignation after he was charged with assault and battery in the kicking of a handcuffed woman.
The videos taken the night of Nov. 21, 2008, show trooper Barry Jacob Rowland’s upper body as he kicks Dana Walls, 36, after she is heard spitting on the trooper.
Rowland said he was defending himself.
“Looking back I may have defended myself differently, but I would still have defended myself,” Rowland said.
Walls said she doesn’t think Rowland was defending himself.
“I don’t know what he’s talking about,” Walls said. “The video tells the story.”
