No, seriously!

Politico, 3/22/10 (emphasis mine):

David Weigel, who’s been covering the right for the Washington Independent, will soon be heading to the Washington Post.

Weigel joins the Post on April 5, and will be launching a blog focused on the conservative movement, tea party activists, and how the GOP’s preparing for November…

“I’ve been lucky to cover a really amazing, surprising political story in the remaking of the GOP and the rise of the Tea Parties,” Weigel told POLITICO. “I take them seriously; they’re building something brand new, something that defies conventional wisdom. If readers get a deeper understanding of these people, their strategy, and their ideas, then I’m doing my job.”

Weigel, writing to Ezra Klein’s Super-Secret Mega-Awesome Lefties-Only Clubhouse, AKA Journolist, February 2010:

“Honestly, it’s been tough to find fresh angles sometimes–how many times can I report that these [tea party] activists are joyfully signing up with the agenda of discredited right-winger X and discredited right-wing group Y?”

How do dorks like that loser get powerful national jobs? Related to someone? Because I would not hire that creep to paint tar on my driveway.

My first post on Dave Weigel (which, like all the others, was critical of him) was almost four years ago to the day. I’ve probably left close to two hundred comments on his entries at Reason, TWI, and the WaPo, all trying to discredit him. I can’t do that without help, but I didn’t get any. Where were the teaparty types all during the period from four years ago until just a few days ago? AWOL as usual.

Maybe they were doing something more important than reading Dave Weigel.

Thank you for showing just how dumb the teaparty-types are. While pretty much anything is more important than Weigel, discrediting him in the right way would have sent a message to the Kochs, Soros/Rockefeller, and the DC establishment (in order of his employment). The teaparty-types aren’t smart enough to figure that out; instead of helping send a message, all the teaparty-type mind (such as it is) is capable of is leaving snarky replies to my comments; waving loopy, oft-times anti-American signs (such as ones threatening to turn their backs on the U.S. by “going Galt” or the “spread my work ethic” ones that imply that the unemployed are lazy bums), disrupting public meetings, throwing tantrums, and playing little dress-up games.

Aw,,,it’s obvious now. You don’t give two fuzzy nickles about Weigel, you’re just here because you want some kind of award for trashing the Tea Party? Well, here’s an old Bucky Beaver badge. Blow the dust off and it’ll be fine.

Ok, that comment made me laugh. Are you serious? You’ve made 200 comments about Weigel and HOW DARE the “Teaparty types” not notice? Sheesh!! While not a TeaParty goer myself, so I can’t speak for them, but I have read, written and commented on blogs for years and Weigel didn’t show up on my radar until this whole kerfuffle. 200 comments huh? hah..I’ve made more comments than that on this blog alone – granted, most were about Scorpidiot, but still….

Behold the face of unabashed evil: Li’l Davey Weigel

So.. Weigel has represented himself as a libertarian to libertarians, as a conservative to conservatives, and as a liberal to liberals. I suppose he might claim to be an independent with 33% leanings in each direction, but I think it’s more likely he’s 100% phony.
