Not only is it notable that Letterman would say something like this less than a year after such a full-on tongue kiss, but notice that his audience did their usual mindless, seal-like clapping at everything he says, instead of gasping in shock at his racist bigotry. Oh, how times change.
*Incidentally, this is also Letterman’s standard line with his interns.
