Bristol Palin tells Leno ‘Dancing’ choice was easy

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Bristol Palin said she didn’t think twice before waltzing into “Dancing with the Stars,” though she’s barely danced in her life.

In an appearance Friday on NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” the 19-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she learned about the invitation through a text message and signed within a week to appear on the new season starting Sept. 20.

Leno asked if she had gone to her high school prom. Palin replied “No, I was pregnant!”

That pregnancy put her in the spotlight during her mother’s campaign for vice president in 2008. She had son Tripp that year, and recently she called off her re-engagement to Levi Johnston.

Palin told Leno she and Johnston weren’t meant to be, and she’s focused on being a mom.

Why is being on Dancing with the Stars suddenly such a “stupid ” thing. Just because Bristol Palin is doing it? Several very popular stars have been on it, had a lot of fun, and went on with their careers. She’s working and making a living for herself. Suddenly, that a bad thing. … and hardly compares with getting pregnant and being with Levi Johnston.

Maybe she should just moved into a crack-shack and be a welfare Mom — live down to all your expectations.

It’s not a problem if you’re a celebrity. She’s famous for making her mom look stupid (by dating a douchebag and being the only child to a Pres/VP nominee getting pregnant out of wedlock in recent memory). Now she’s using that “fame” to appear on a show with celebrity’s who can actually dance. If she sucks at it, she’ll look stupid, and it will be more fodder to attack the Palin’s.

If she’s any good, then it’ll be fine. If she’s a trainwreck, it will once again shed light on their family for something other than impressive accomplishments.

While many people probably feel as you do, here’s the rub…….BRISTOL is not SARAH. She is an adult and responsible for her own actions. To make Sarah Palin pay the price for her daughter’s mistakes is wrong.

We have all been teenager an done things our parents wish we would not have. Our parents just were not in the spotlight.

True. I shudder to think what damage I would have done to my parents if they were politicians during my late teens/early twenties. Unfortunately, her fault or not, that’s the life Bristol’s mom chose. Bristol is using that spotlight to carve out a niche for herself that revolves around the celebrity B list (more like the C list). So then it becomes her problem because she’s using her mom’s fame to try to earn money for herself. That’s why she’s not treated like other politicians’ children.

It seems this apple fell really far away from the tree. Bristol just keeps jumping from several stupid things (dating the creep Levi, getting pregnant, getting back with the same creep, etc) to the next (I can’t dance, but I’d love to give it a try. To give her the benefit of the doubt, this decision couldn’t be as bad as her last one.) with no thought at all. It is so obvious she is being used by the networks for a lot of not very good reasons.

I wish her luck…she’ll probably need a lot of it! (note: Bristol, maybe you should start giving things at least a little thought.)

She doesn’t think twice about a lot of stuff, and therein lies the problem.

Anyone who gets back together with a douchebag like Levi after the stuff he said in the media about her entire family has a lot of maturing to do.
