Everyone knows that Washington is a pretty good place to look for news. Less well known? You can make money doing it.

While the rest of the country cycles through the effects of the recession, Washington keeps spending money (our money), and a huge ring of advisers, lobbyists and advocacy groups spend ad dollars in part to get a share of the pie. None of this is lost on David G. Bradley, owner of the Atlantic Media Company. Among his publications are The National Journal, a wonk fetish that Mr. Bradley acquired in 1997, and The Atlantic, which he bought in 1999 and moved to Washington, where he had been very successful building the Advisory Board, a consulting and information company. (Disclosure: I worked at The Atlantic in 2000 for a year.)
