Democratic candidates in California have extended their leads over Republican challengers in the races for Senate and the governor’s mansion, a new Fox News poll shows.

California Sen. Barbara Boxer has extended her lead beyond the margin of error over Republican Carly Fiorina since September, but support has remained unchanged since last week, when Fox News conducted a similar poll. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown has surged ahead of Republican Meg Whitman, and now leads by nine points.

The polls suggest that Golden State Democrats are solidifying their leads in the final days before the election despite earlier surveys that showed both races to be much tighter.  In a September Fox News poll, the race for the Senate was at a statistical dead heat, and Whitman led Brown by six points.

Another poll released Monday showed Brown ahead by double-digits. The Los Angeles Times/USC poll put Brown ahead of Whitman by 52 percent to 39 percent, with increased gains among women voters. The Fox News poll has Brown leading among women by 14 points.
