Christine O’Donnell had nearly $1 million left

Delaware Republican Christine O’Donnell criticized the national GOP for not spending money on her campaign, but the long-shot Senate nominee was sitting on a mountain of cash.

O’Donnell reported having $924,800 in the bank after the election was over, according to her post-general election campaign fundraising report, filed Thursday.

An underdog GOP nominee turned media darling of the 2010 election cycle, O’Donnell became an overnight sensation when she defeated moderate Rep. Mike Castle for the Republican nomination in September, and some of her outlandish ideas and surprising statements that she had made in the past were unearthed. Public polls showed Castle would have been a shoo-in in the race for that Senate seat, but O’Donnell lost the race to  Chris Coons by 16 points on Nov. 2.

What did you think she was going to do with that money ? Spend it on a campaign that had no chance ? There are lawfull ways she can use that money that will be to her long-term benefit. Politicians do this all the time, so nobody should be shocked. How do you think they all leave office filthy rich after a career of “public service”?

  • Vuvuzela

Notwithstanding all the libturds with PDS and ODS (recently recovered from BDS), there is a nasty factoid to be made about the O’Donnell campaign: The fact that she didn’t dump every penney into the campaign explains a lot about why she didn’t win the election. I would speculate the GOP should have gotten into her campaign and shown her how to spend the money to get the most out of it. Leaving it in the bank just bought her insurance – it insured she would lose. I’m laying her defeat, and the failure of the GOP to take over the Senate, at the feet of Steele and his cronies. She was new; they were the political experts. Too many McLame cronies, country-clubbers and bluebloods still in the upper eschelons of the GOP. Time for the Tea Party to either dump them, or pass them by.

  • PolyIndependent

Anyone that doesn’t realize that her hanging onto this money was a calculated move is either willfully blind or terminally dumb. We’ve known for months now that she is likely going to be indicted for misuse of campaign funds dating back to prior elections. Her current campaign money can be used for her defense. This money was held back specifically and intentionally in anticipation of an upcoming trial.

Poly is to Cristine O’Donnell as Captain Ahab is to Moby Dick. Such a sadistic infatuation to go after someone…

I see the mental patients from the puffington post took over this thread. It’s amazing what a computer with an internet connection at the mental hospital can produce. An easy target for the many brave souls and not enough knives for each back turned.

So the genius drinking the juice at wiki-politico, SHRIA Toeplitz, and named properly I might add, expects all candidates to spend every dollar on the campaign up until the last second of voting apparently. First a story about how she had bad debt and she was irresponsible with money and now attack her because she has it left over. Conservative women can’t win with the libterians and libtards. The poor mike castle drones still crying themselves to sleep on their state issued pillows each night while on lockdown will just have to find a new hero to worship who didn’t get primaried by the hated one, awwww.

Thanks for telling the truth. No one thinks that O’Donnell’s lawsuit against the ISI was frivolous. She is A-m-a-z-i-n-g! I would have voted for her on cuteness alone.

If only the Republican party had nominated Bristol Palin for Senator. She came in third on Dancing With the Stars. That chick has talent. She is a conservative dancer. Word.

Unlike Republican women, Democrat Congress women can use the men rooms anytime they wish because after all no one can tell the difference.

Castle was a back stabber couldn’t even muster the honor to congratulate and support her. Instead, like Rockefeller in 1964′ who left Barry Goldwater out to dry, Castle and Rove are just a couple of political low life, snake in the grass.

you’re right, they are the type of political figure who is only out for themselves. they’ll help and support others… as long as it doesn’t make them look bad, cost them much, or if they’ll get something in return. they will do anything to make themselves look smart (even if they aren’t). and if you don’t fit into their little box of what they think you’re supposed to look like and act like and talk like, they don’t accept you and look down on you.

      • Offensive Bias

I read the article and nowhere did it state that her campaign has “bills” to pay like all other candidates do in post election clean up. I bet she has invoices to catch up on and pay so the fact she has some money left to pay for it she’ll need it.
Instead, Political which is a spin off from the Lib Wash. Post writes this article because O’Donnell had financial issues in the past(like we all do) and their making an issue out of nothing.

Of course the lemmings will come here and make quick judgment against Cristy because their smart she’s dumb…Palin’s dumb and all that(got to drag Palin in ya’ know!).

*facepalm* this article gets it all wrong!!
first of all, the polls around election day showed that castle would have LOST to coons.
second, this article completely misses the point. it wasn’t really about money. she was upset that the national GOP didn’t care about her at all. they labeled her unelectable and didn’t try to show any support for her. When she lost they said “i told you so” even though they were part of the reason!! THAT’S why Christine was upset.

by the way, i hate the picture of christine that was spread to the national media. two major things everyone knew about her were
    1. “she is a witch.”
that got blown waaay out of proportion. people focused on that even though it wasn’t important at all, and i hate that.
    and 2. “she doesn’t masturbate”
who cares about whether she masturbates or not. why did people care so much? i don’t get it!! but nevertheless, people acted like that was a big deal.

what people didn’t focus on were her POLICIES. almost every attack on christine was a PERSONAL attack, did you notice? and every person who supported castle over christine used mostly the “electability” argument. what about castle’s POLICIES? why can’t people talk about policies instead of who masturbates and who doesn’t.

    • loudog

Maybe when people in Delaware realized she didn’t understand the first amendment they lost interest in her “policies”, just a guess.

      • Offensive Bias

Lou, you don’t understand the first amendment.

        • loudog

what don’t I understand about it?

          • Offensive Bias

Lou dog: “what I don’t understand about the 1st amendment as well as the rest of the Constitution?”

Cristy stated separation of church and state is NOT in the 1st amendment. In fact it’s no where in the Constitution. Because of court rulings like the 1947 SCOTUS ruling, justice Hugo Black termed the “phrase separation of church…” and has been picked up by other courts in recent times taken out of context. 1st amendment tells the feds they can’t have a official religion but cannot prevent the free exercise of. That last half is left out so liberal drones will think the 1st amendment says “Seperation of church….” just like the audience who loudly hissed at the Cristy and Coons debate were being indoctrinated as future ACLU litigants.

            There you go Lou.

          • loudog

nonsensical. I never said the words “seperation of church and state” was written in the 1st amendment or that the free exercise of it could be restricted, although conservatives are sure trying to in NYC.

No offense Offensive B, but I’ll accept an interpretation from Jefferson before O’Donnell or yourself.
“I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State”
            Thomas Jefferson, 1802

    • des1

“first of all, the polls around election day showed that castle would have LOST to coons.”

Nonsense. The same polls that predicted she’d lose by 18 (which were almost exactly correct) predicted Castle would have won by more than 20. You’re claiming that the polls which were almost perfect with regards to O’Donnell were over 20 points off when it comes to Castle? That’s just silly.

BTW, anyone who doesn’t see a link between the fact that this perpetually unemployed wanna-be politician/famous person kept a million dollars back from the election and her financial history needs to stop drinking the red kool-aid.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jasmine-Clark/1785223171 Jasmine Clark

well then i’m hearing conflicting reports then… some poll on election day or a little after said that castle would have lost. (don’t know which one it was though) but what is so great about castle anyway? i have never heard anything good about him other than “he’s electable,” that’s the best his supporters can do.

also like i said, it’s not about the money!!! this article gets it all wrong, approaches this from the wrong perspective. its bigger than how much money is in her campaign, that’s not the point.

guess what? there is an image of christine that was spread all over the national media. the image was that she was stupid, a celebrity wannabe, etc. i bet if that image of her hadn’t spread, and the debate was on policies instead, i bet there wouldn’t be all these negative comments on christine-related articles. but i just know that whenever i see an article about her, people on both left and right will criticize, just like you did. i swear that if that image hadn’t spread, things would be different.

        • craigiri

          >>>well then i’m hearing conflicting reports then

JC, I have think you are a troll put here by my friends on the left to make the right look bad…….I’m trying hard to see otherwise, but it was common knowledge that the Del. Senate Seat was going to be won by the GOP. It was one of those “no doubt” things.

Allowing for the benefit of the doubt, you are either a troll or else only tune into bizzarro backwards news sources. Either one is fine with me!

Oh yeah, there’s a shocker. Not.

The woman practically has the word G R I F T E R stamped out in big red block letters on her forehead and yet there are some who call themselves True Conservatives who thought it would be a brilliant idea to promote her as the icon of Tea Party values.

Here’s a helpful hint for Sarah Palin, Mark Levin & their legions of gullible acolytes: the “con” in con artist is not an abbreviation for conservative!

  • PolyIndependent

And she better get it ready for legal fees. She’s going to be charged for misappropriation of funds.

    • leilani

Let Mark Levin pay her legal fees fighting the charges she loots campaign funds for personal expenses. She’s his “True Conservative” poster girl. Let the conservatives around the country who were bilked by her pathologically unethical brand of ‘conservatism’ get their money back. Or better yet, let that extra cash she’s been hoarding for suspect purposes go to a non-profit foundation to more fully vet whatever other dubious character Sarah Palin decides to endorse in the future.

      • The_anniebanannie

“Let Mark Levin pay her legal fees”
