TUCSON — The next phase of recovery for U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., is likely to begin later this week when she will be transported to one of the best rehabilitation hospitals in the nation.
The congresswoman, who was shot on Jan. 8, along with 18 others while hosting a town-hall meeting outside a Tucson grocery store, is expected to move Friday to TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Hospital in Houston.
But because this situation is fluid, the exact day of the move will depend on Giffords’ health.
