Take note, “Angry Birds” junkies: The popular phone app will soon become an animated series for television or the web, the British TV industry site c21media.net reported Monday.
The Finnish company Rovio created the addictive “Angry Birds” game and will produce the series. The “Angry Birds” app for iPhone already boasts over 50 million downloads. The game features a pack of fiery birds intent on retrieving their eggs from thieving green pigs. Players launch the birds via slingshot to destroy their foes.
“It was a completely new area for us; we had to get our bearings there, and a sense of how the whole market was,” Hed told C21. “That was the first part of the exercise, and now that we’ve done that, the next part is to move into production, and that’s where we are right now.”
