The Daily Beast‘s Howie Kurtz says the government shutdown was a “sham” story, pushed by reporters who ignored Speaker Boehner’s assurance that it wouldn’t happen:
There was never going to be a shutdown. This was a classic media-generated story, based more on political posturing and a thirst for melodrama …
Luckily, the desperate-for-hits Daily Beast was immune to this impulse! … Oh wait. … P.S.: If the “shutdown” fear was so obviously phony, why did Kurtz wait until a shutdown had been safely averted to write this story?
