More Wisconsin civility: Death threat against GOP lawmakers

Charlie Sykes at WTMJ radio in Milwaukee writes:

Since the MSM appears intent on downplaying the growing intimidation and escalating threats of violence around the union power issue, I am reprinting verbatim an email that was sent to Republican senators. The email was signed, but I have deleted the name pending what I hope will be a thorough police investigation.

Subject: Atten: Death threat!!!! Bomb!!!!

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me have decided that we’ve had enough. We feel that you and the people that support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand for it any longer. So, this is how it’s going to happen: I as well as many others know where you and your family live, it’s a matter of public records. We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn’t leave it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the message to you since you are so “high” on Koch and have decided that you are now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a demorcratic process. So we have also built several bombs that we have placed in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent. This includes, your house, your car, the state capitol, and well I won’t tell you all of them because that’s just no fun. Since we know that you are not smart enough to figure out why this is happening to you we have decided to make it perfectly clear to you. If you and your goonies feel that it’s necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families and themselves then We Will “get rid of” (in which I mean kill) you. Please understand that this does not include the heroic Rep. Senator that risked everything to go aganist what you and your goonies wanted him to do. We feel that it’s worth our lives to do this, because we would be saving the lives of 300,000 people. Please make your peace with God as soon as possible and say goodbye to your loved ones we will not wait any longer. YOU WILL DIE!!!!

All typos and psychoses in the original.

Are death threats considered news, even if they’re made against Republicans? Will CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo, and all the rest take any interest in this, even if they can’t find some way to blame Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck? I suppose anything’s possible.

P.S. Robert Costa at NRO:

Mayhem engulfed the state capitol following the vote. Thousands of protesters streamed into the four wings of the historic white-granite building, screaming at the GOP lawmakers, who were quickly escorted out by police. College students from the University of Wisconsin’s Madison campus mingled with union leaders, teachers raised fists with progressive organizers. Cries of “Shame!” echoed throughout the marble halls.

Senate Republicans were harried by swarming crowds. “We tried to get out of the building after the vote, because they were rushing the chamber, and we were escorted by security through a tunnel system to another building. But, after being tipped off by a Democrat, they mobbed the exit at that building, and were literally trying to break the windows of the cars we were in as we were driving away,” Republican senator Randy Hopper tells NRO. Such tactics, he sighs, were hardly unexpected. “I got a phone call yesterday saying that we should be executed. I’ve had messages saying that they want to beat me with a billy club.”

P.P.S. William Jacobson: The Other Loser In Wisconsin – Law Enforcement Credibility.

P.P.P.S. And the airbrushing of reality continues at the NYT.

P.P.P.P.S. Better late than never: Police carry protesters out of Wisconsin capitol.

P.P.P.P.P.S. Another death threat, this one handwritten and slipped under a lawmaker’s office door. Katie? Brian? Diane? Hello?

This is the same kind of crap as when the MSM shows mostly the disgusting signs at tea party rallies and Fox News shows equally disgusting signs at liberal rallies. Always show the nut-ball signs and trying to fool the public into believing everyone thinks that way.

There’s always a few nuts in every crowd, it seems, and this is no different. Not newsworthy at all.

Is the Daily Caller trying to suggest that most people in Wisconsin want to kill Republicans? We’re still having trouble acting like grown-ups.

Come on, Tucker, this is really disappointing. Fox News really has you in their pocket.

Well done. That straw man didn’t stand a chance.

    Answer: 3! LOL

    Didn’t get the memo?

    Today’s topic is Cyber-Bullies.

Sorry, but cyber-death-threats, cyber-genocidal-threats, and cyber-boilerplate-union-communiques are not on the agenda.

Death threats are always a bad thing, regardless of who’s making them. That being said, I still would like to know who is making them. The entire thing reads like a do-it-yourself death threat handbook entry. I’m not suggesting at all not to take it seriously, but it’s fairly simple to trace back emails to the person who made them.

Also, while I completely disagree with Walker, the Republican senators and their ilk, I do think that there is a real potential for violence that cannot be ignored. And to be honest, I think there’s a threat coming from both sides. I’ve read Facebook posts by both Reps and Dems today who are absolutely enraged.

People need to calm down and realize that violence gets you nowhere. Keep protesting, keep fighting and keep educating the public. Just do it with a spirit of peace and nonviolence.

They wanted a new civility but it’s hard to improve on the classic psycho death threat.

If only liberals had allies in the creative arts they could turn to. But the Left is all logic and brain power and stuff, not like us emotion-based conservatives.

P.S. Death threats suck. But it’s unions. Some “rights” just can’t be legislated away…

Look, nobody’s going to kill anybody here, though I certainly hope an investigation is conducted, the culprit apprehended. That said, this is classic saber-rattling. It has all the hallmarks of Kim Jong Il-like bluster. In general, those who actually intend to commit acts of pre-planned violence seldom broadcast their intentions. What they do is substitute their bluster for the violence. This is how they release the pressure created by their frustration. What they don’t do is act.

So it doesn’t matter because it probably won’t happen? I thought toxic rhetoric was bad. I thought the atmosphere of hatred was bringing about the end of the republic. After all, Michelle Bachmann is Girl Hitler for saying her constituents should be “armed and dangerous (with information on energy tax).”

It’s not hate until it makes Nancy Pelosi cry.
