The HBO movie “Game Change” will be filmed in Maryland this spring, according to Gov. Martin O’Malley’s office.

The Baltimore Sun reported Friday that “Game Change,” which is based on Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book by the same name about the 2008 presidential election cycle, is expected to provide nearly 2,000 jobs. The movie adaptation will follow former presidential candidate John McCain from his selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential candidate running mate through the November election.

Location scouting is likely to start next week, with the production taking anywhere from one to two months “in and around Baltimore” this spring, HBO films president Len Amato told the Sun.

Last week, TheWrap announced that “The Kids Are All Right” actress Julianne Moore would portray Palin in “Game Change.” Palin told Fox host Sean Hannity that she would “grit [her] teeth and bear whatever comes what may with [‘Game Change’].”

Palin added that she was glad the movie could produce jobs, but made a back-handed comment about how she was relieved actresses could make money off her.

“Well, I am all about job creation, and I guess I could provide some of these gals who pretend like they’re me some job security,” Palin said, presumably referring to both Moore and comedian Tina Fey. “I would ask, though, that — if they’re of the mind of spreading the wealth around — that perhaps they want to spring for one of my kid’s braces or something as they capitalize on pretending to be me.”
