Credited with the phrase that has a Hillary Clinton and President Obama favorite, “smart power”, Dr. Nye is an undisputed leader in his field with key insights into global dynamics of power.
In our discussion, Dr. Nye asserted that our nation’s key to international success lies in the fusing of the traditional military “hard power” with the subtle, more diplomatic notions of “soft power,” resulting in the effective and strategic “smart power”. As he tells me, in modern warfare, having the best story can be as important as having the best army.
