Bacon lovers, jump in the air and click your heels! Now you, too, can smell like your favorite food without spending all day over a hot griddle. A Chicago-based company, Fargginay, has started hawking bacon-scented cologne.

The cologne, called Bacōn (pronounced bay-cone), is a combination of 11 essential oils and, of course, bacon.

“A person’s sense of smell is intricately linked to human memory, profoundly influencing people’s ability to recall past experiences,” said founder, John Leydon. “These high-quality fragrances are designed to trigger pleasant memories and they do it in a very subtle way.”

While some might fear that dabbing themselves with bacon scent will attract wild dogs or Michael Moore, the folks at Fargginay promise a “subtle and seductive” experience. The product’s tag is, after all, “scent by the gods.”

A 20th-century Parisian butcher named John Fargginay, who discovered that the smell of bacon could elevate his customers’ mood, inspired the project.

“As the story goes, film stars and heads of state would frequent his shop to procure the magical elixir,” Fargginay’s website explains. “With a wink of the eye and the secret code, ‘fargginay,’ customers would be slipped a discreet pouch containing the formula said to trigger pleasant memories. After a massive fire on July 4, 1924, the business was lost and so was the formula … Until now. Ladies & gentlemen, behold, Bacōn fragrances, by fargginay”

“These fragrances are perhaps the most thoughtful gift of all time for any bacon lover,” added Leydon. “They just rock.”
