President Obama has said he will not release the most-mortem photos of Osama bin Laden, but don’t members of the House Intelligence Committee at least deserve to see them?

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), chairman of the committee, opposes releasing the bin Laden photos to the public, but (as The Hill reported), wants the photos to be shared with the other 19 members of his committee: “I have seen the photos. I have requested that the rest of my committee — and I understand today they’ll honor that — will see these photos,” Rogers said Wednesday evening on MSNBC.”

Texas Rep. Mike Conaway echoed the sentiment, saying: “I would like to be able to tell my constituents, whether they release it or not — I’d like for the Intel committee to be able to see it so I can tell my constituents that I’ve seen it.”

Other members of the committee want the general public to see them. For example, Rep. Peter King told CNN’s Piers Morgan: “I think it is important to get out the picture of his face.”

And even some Democrats on the committee believe the photos should be shown to the public. As The Oklahoman reported: “Citing previous conspiracy theories such as those surrounding Elvis Presley, [Democratic Rep. Dan] Boren said releasing the photo would help convince people that bin Laden is indeed dead.”
