Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is announcing his candidacy for president via Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, his spokesman, Rick Tyler, confirmed to The Daily Caller.

Sean Hannity will interview the GOP “ideas machine” Wednesday night, his first interview after announcing, and Gingrich is slated to speak about running at the Georgia GOP convention later in the week, Tyler said.

Gingrich led Republicans to control of the House for the first time in decades in 1994. Since resigning from Congress, he has assembled an empire of non-profit and for-profit groups that help promote his ideas. The infrastructure could aid Gingrich in running for the presidency.

At the same time, Gingrich has stumbled in the early exploratory phase of his candidacy, angering the conservative intelligentsia with an ostentatious defense of ethanol subsidies and bombing on explanations for his repeated adultery and three marriages.

LOL> LMAO. Come on………..NEWT? Really? Is that the best you’ve got??? SAD!

Integrity, character and honesty get me every time – now more than ever. Mr. Gingrich appears to be in short supply of all three. Buh-bye, Newt.

I first read that as “Wii announce”. And I thought that Newt was announcing on a billboard in Mario Kart or something.

I live in GA and would NEVER vote for Newt. His moral compass went way off track long ago.
I would vote for Palin in a heartbeat but Palin/Bachman will not be a successful ticket. Perhaps Palin/West or Palin/Caine would be a better fit.

Newt will cause more damage than good by running.

Newt may be the strongest one out there, but I have no use for a flip flopper.
    He is a spoiler.

Ya know, I appreciate the be-heading Newt is getting on the comments section of this story but everything in life can’t be a knee-jerk reaction.

I mean I really DO get it. He’s cheated on wives, he’s been pro climate change, he’s an egomaniac, blah, blah, blah. I’m not thrilled about some of his past choices either.

At some point people, you are going to have to come to a realization that you will NEVER get your “dream” candidate. Every human has their faults. Every human makes mistakes including you, me and Presidential candidates.

So far, as OFFICIAL candidates go, who do you REALLY want to vote for? Remember, “official candidates” only.

Christie and West (both not in yet) and even Cain who is, have very minimal experience in an elected capacity thus far. Before you all flame me on here about ‘experience’ let me remind you that we all feel our futures are in dire straights right now, in part, because of not only our current Administration’s current staff’s lack of experience but also because of our SITTING PRESIDENT’S LACK OF IT!

If Newt will at least own up to his disappointments with you, will you not at least hear him out? When push comes to shove (and it will), do you want someone with experience, a plan and ideas? Or do you prefer some guy that thinks he can be President because he’s pissed off, just like me and you?

Like it or not, a PRESIDENTIAL candidate with zero experience in an ELECTED capacity is also extremely dangerous. This isn’t a seat for the House or even Senate!

Do I love the idea of a new face? ABSOLUTELY! Do I love the idea of the next GOP President needing a six month “training session”? NO!

If Newt stands by his choices of adultery (for those of you who can’t get beyond it) or climate change or whatever your personal pet peeve is, fine. But at some point, we are all going to have to face the big picture here. Please spare me the “his days are behind him”, “we don’t need another old white guy”, “he’s boring” arguments.

If that is your best argument, then how are you any different than someone who voted for “Change”? Look past the bullshit and start looking at the issues. Who else do you seriously believe has the ideas, the know how and can mop up the floor with Obama in a debate? Study up on what he has put out there for the last 5 years and get back with me. At bare minimum, he has the gumption, the know how and the IDEAS to quite possibly reverse this course – on his very first day in office!

Agree is this what we want to support? Can we get serious and support a common sense, upstanding citizen?
