Rick Perry was a Democrat

Gov. Rick Perry, a no-apologies conservative known for slashing government spending and opposing all tax increases, is about as Republican as you can get.

But that wasn’t always the case.

Perry spent his first six years in politics as a Democrat, in a somewhat forgotten history that is sure to be revived and scrutinized by Republican opponents if he decides to run for president.

What I enjoy about Perry is that he has no “back up” in him. What I also enjoy is that the rest of the US continually gets president’s from Texas. Even Davy Crockett got fed up with Congress and came down here. Having trouble reading the Constitution?

And Al Gore was once a sane Blue Dog Dem, not the fat, menopausal hysteric he is now.

The Democrat Party would still have people like Rick Perry in it if they actually advocated policies that were in the best interests of the American people.

…and what accounts for thousands of people leaving the republican party??????
The GOP has roughly 55 million people; the democrats have roughly 72 million.

You’re actually using WIKIPEDIA as a “source” for political information?

Hahahahahahaha!!! Any idiot from anywhere in the world can write anything they want in Wikipedia. OH, PLEASE!

….HE’S A DEMOCRAT ALRIGHT! Why in the hell would we want this man to run this country if he can’t even run the state of Texas?? Have you NOT been paying attention to the news? We are in a budget crisis right now and have been for a long time due to the Republicans running up an $11 trillion taxpayer deficit.

THE STATE OF TEXAS HAS A $36 BILLION DEFICIT THAT CAN’T BE BLAMED ON DEMOCRATS! THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN OUT OF POWER SINCE ANN RICHARDS WAS IN OFFICE…INCIDENTALLY, THE LAST TIME TEXAS HAD A SURPLUS. THE STATE HAS GERRYMANDERED TO ELECT ONLY REPUBLICANS AT ALL LEVELS AND THE SURPLUS WAS WIPED OUT AND DEFICITS DEVELOPED AND BALLOONED SINCE.

THERE ARE NO DEMOCRATS IN POWER IN TEXAS’ STATE GOVERNMENT — WHY IN THE HELL WOULD WE WANT MORE DEFICITS UNDER PERRY AS PRESIDENT — HE CAN’T BALANCE HIS OWN STATE’S BUDGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Rick Perry was a Democrat

..and so was RONALD REAGAN – who proved that lapses in judgement and common sense CAN BE OVERCOME.

  • loveurick

Yawn. Big deal. Govenor Perry, we forgive your youthful indiscretions, as we forgave Reagan. Man, the liberal and political elites in the country are getting desperate, already, and you haven’t even announced yet!

It is hard for those not blessed to be Texans to understand; not so long ago Jesus Christ (R) could be running against Joe Shit the Ragman(D) in Texas and lose. I can remember my grandfather cussing for weeks every four years when he had to go see the local Democrat party chairman to pay his filing fee when he was running for Sheriff – because the only way anyone could be elected was to run as a Democrat.

  • Ryan.Iowa

Seriously?! Reagan was a Democrat. It’s funny how there seem to be more Democrat-to-Republican conversions then the other way around.

I would like to request an “edit” feature to posted comments. I mean to finish the “Reagan was a Democrat” with “before he migrated rightward along the political spectrum.”

Rick’s from West Texas. EVERYONE’s a dem in W TX, home of the Blue Dogs. It’s farm and cattle land. What a stupid article.
