Unlike some Republican presidential candidates, Michele Bachmann isn’t afraid to talk about the debt ceiling debate.

In a new ad, the Minnesota Representative makes clear where she stood, and where she stands, on government spending.

I voted against raising the debt limit because it’s time to balance the budget and pay down the debt. I mean it, and you can believe it.

Shot in Ames, Iowa, “Believe It” targets those Hawkeye voters who will participate in the Aug. 13 straw poll. The 30-second spot brings Bachmann’s campaign full circle. In her first official presidential campaign ad, one aimed at Iowans, Bachmann dramatically stated: “I. Will. Not. Vote … to increase the debt ceiling,” a line she repeated in her second Iowa-centric ad, “Courage.

Bachmann’s campaign says the new ad will run statewide.
