Jon Gosselin is “very relieved” that ex-wife Kate Gosselin’s show about her and their eight children has gotten the axe, but Kate finds this reality to be “scary.”

“I hope that this will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need for any personal issues they might have in the future,” Jon told RadarOnline about his little ones.

Jon’s interview comes a day after the announcement that “Kate Plus 8” will be discontinued at the end of the current season. (MORE: Kate Gosselin’s non-Jon show axed by TLC)

Kate published a string of tweets in the aftermath of Monday’s news, telling her fans, “I wish I didn’t have to say it was so, my faithful followers.. Thx for adventuring with us for SIX years! We love you!”

When asked by The Daily Caller via Twitter if she was concerned about how she would financially support her eight munchkins without a paycheck from her reality TV show, Kate responded with the tweet, “YES!!!! One mom and 8 kids = scary!!!! But I’ll make it happen.. Lotsa prayer and hard work as always :)”

From 2007 to 2009, Jon starred alongside his former spouse in “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” a reality series about their lives as parents of fraternal twins and sextuplets. Jon left the show in 2009 after rumors surfaced that he cheated on his wife. He went on to purchase a New York City bachelor pad, which was ransacked during the 2009 Christmas season.

The couple has joint custody of the kids and Jon resides in an apartment near Kate’s home. At the moment, he has a steady girlfriend.

Jon told RadarOnline he was unsure where Kate will go from here, but that he wishes her well.

“I have no clue what her next move is,” Jon said. “I hope she dedicates more time to the kids now and I wish her the best as she goes forward with whatever career she wants to pursue.”
