Conservatives to get a lesson in liberal groups’ election tactics

A portion of the conservative movement will turn the tables on liberal community organizers September 17 and train their ideological brethren in election tactics that liberal groups have used for years.

Hosted by the conservative non-profit American Majority, the day will consist of grassroots training sessions in 14 states. The group explains that their “Training Bomb” will be the “biggest one-day training of conservative activists ever,” with distribution of get-out-the-vote materials, group projects and election lectures.

“On ‘Training Bomb’ day we’re going to be training people on anything from how to run for office to how do you work precincts, to how do you become a community organizer for freedom,” American Majority President Ned Ryun told The Daily Caller. “How do you really go in and organize your communities so that when it comes time for local elections for school board or city council you’ve got the right candidates that are ready to run?”

It is the American Majority’s intention not only to train organizers in how to get out the vote, but also to teach them how to run for local offices so that the conservative movement has a steady stream of conservatives ready to run for higher office. Think triple-A ball for conservative candidates.

Ryun explained that while, in his opinion, conservatives have the best ideas, liberals have out-organized them for years. According to Ryun, that is about to change.

“Some of the stuff we’re going to be doing is talking about how the left has done it. Whenever ACORN was doing stuff that was legal, how they went in and how their community organizers would walk their precincts once a month,” he said. “Nobody on the right does that. Nobody’s ever done that.” (RELATED: Echoing 2008, Obama campaign’s ‘Project Vote’ also brings back 1993)

“And one of our main themes that we teach is that bad people with proper organization always beat people with good ideas and bad organization,” he explained. “I’m convinced we’ve got the best ideas. They’re far better organized.”

The “Training Bomb” is scheduled for the same day as the 224th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Training sessions will be held in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Dallas, Wisconsin, New York, North Carolina, Indiana, Illinois, Vermont, Michigan, Florida, Arizona, Colorado and Ohio.

“I’m convinced that if we can get enough local communities who are doing the right thing and enough of them do it nationally, then you’ll see that groundswell from the bottom up that will bring national change,” Ryun added.
