“It’s been a long time …”

The short long time: From a fundraising email sent out under Obama’s name on Wednedsay:

It’s been a long time since Congress was focused on what the American people need them to be focused on …

“A long time .” Hmm. Republicans have controlled the House for all of 8 months.  If  the Democrats who ran both houses of Congress and the White House before then didn’t focus on “what the American people need them to be focused on,” whose fault is that? Is Obama running against Nancy Pelosi too? … P.S.: In this situation, do voters want a candidate who is “frustrated”–or one who’s contrite? …

Is the title a very subtle Eric B, and Rakim reference? If so, props.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid make the three stooges Larry, Curly and Moe look like paragons of intelligent decision making.

Kaus is making a mountain out of a mole-hill here. I think “a long time” isn’t referring to the good old days when Democrats controlled Congress (8 months ago). I think the letter is referring to the collapse of Congress’ stature as an institution, which has been decades in the making, regardless of which party was in power. When was the last time Congress had approval ratings over 50 percent? I can’t remember. They make Obama’s approval ratings look good. And that’s the point of this letter, I think. Whipping up that anti-Congress populism. And why not? Every election cycle, we hear “throw the bums out.” (Amusingly, we never do throw them out. With a few expceptions, voters in every state and district discover that their own representatives are the good guys; it’s all the other representatives that need to go.) LOL!

Remind me exactly when Obama was focused on the details of any of his legislation.  His presidency has been defined by being focused elsewhere at the crucial moments, and then surprise that things got hijacked and screwed up.

This is just stupid. Of course ‘a long time’ can mean 8 months. Just a pathetic attempt to get some “hear hear”‘s from the Daily Caller teabaggers

Hey, Dred, go ask somebody to teach you how to troll properly.  That effort is just ludicrously lame.

Well you certainly put me in my place. How can I compete with your withering retort. (Withering describes the attempt, by the way, not the effect)

Here’s a hint, if you have to write it twice to get your meaning across, maybe you should have written it correctly the first time. But wait, that would have been a practical carbon copy of the post you were attempting to ridicule… hmmm…..

That “teabaggers” remark is not name calling, just to be clear. Dred explained that to me. I still don’t get it but I will take it on his authority as a blog commenter.

Don’t be too hard on the president. After all, who is doing the most to help out the cause of conservatives and libertarians everywhere? Let’s all do our best to give credit where credit is due. Let’s all, each and every one of us send him a little thank-you note, expressing our thanks for all he’s done.
