The GOP debate is still hours away, but the opening salvo of a Twitter proxy war between top Romney and Perry advisers may have already begun.

Top Romney aide Eric Fehrnstrom responded on Twitter to top Perry aide Dave Carney this morning, writing:

(Earlier this year, Fehrnstrom came under fire for a fake Twitter account he created.)

Is this just some pre-debate fun, or a harbinger of things to come? My guess is we should expect some more fireworks between the principals tonight…
