Braiding up: Pippi Longstocking is out, but braids are back in [SLIDESHOW]

Braiding is an age-old option for styling your hair. Sometimes worn to reflect the “Little House on the Prairie” cowgirl image, braids are the latest look to hit trendy celebrities.

Though they are generally a simple three-strand weave, they have many ways of being worn. Whether its the Heidi-style milk maid braids, French braids or even the fishtail braid, the style can add a great dimension to an otherwise boring hairdo.

Sleek or messy, casual around town or formal at an awards show, this revived look is good for all ages and occasions.

Check out these  celebrities and trendy different ways to braid your hair.
