David Ortiz reluctanctly accepted arbitration and will return to the Boston Red Sox in 2012.
“It was a (hard decision), but sometimes things happen,” Ortiz told WEEI Radio in a phone conversation Wednesday night.
Ortiz made $12.5 million in 2011 and might expect to make close to $15 million in arbitration.
“The good thing is that it looks like I’ll be playing in front of the Boston fans for another year,” Ortiz said.
