It was an ugly game for the Denver Broncos on Christmas Eve, who were playing on the road against the Buffalo Bills. They lost 40-14, with their often criticized openly Christian quarterback Tim Tebow going 13-for-30 passing, with one touchdown and four interceptions.
Tebow has been something of a lightning rod because of his faith, but it was Bill Maher, whose HBO show is in the middle of a three-month hiatus, that seemed to find Tebow’s loss amusing. Following the game, Maher tweeted his interpretation of how the game turned out:
Wow, Jesus just fucked #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler “Hey, Buffalo’s killing them”
That prompted some outrage on Twitter, especially from Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network host Eric Bolling, who was adamantly critical of Maher in his replies:
Bill Maher is disgusting vile trash. I can’t even repeat what he just tweeted about Tebow..on Christmas Eve. #straighttohellBill
