Newt Gingrich‘s stump speech Tuesday at a presidential forum in Aiken, S.C., bored at least one person in the audience: Rick Perry‘s son Griffin.

Gingrich was the only candidate to appear at the event where all were invited. Instead of Perry, Griff showed up to speak. As he waited to address the crowd, he had a few choice words for the former Speaker of the House. (RELATED: Full election coverage)

“At Aiken event where they only let Newt speak. Half the crowd is almost asleep. At least as a surrogate I can keep the people awake!!” Griff tweeted Tuesday night. “I haven’t been this bored since Microeconomic Theory 231. It is unbelievable how much better Dad is on the stump.”

Griffin graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2006.
