There doesn’t seem to be anything the Occupiers can’t foul up. They can’t even manage a heartwarming tale of romance among the rubbish and rats without ruining it.

Boston Herald:

Looks like somebody forgot to Google.

The Monday Boston Globe featured a photo on the front page of its Metro section of a lip-locked couple who “found romance” at Occupy Boston.

“Holding hands outside the food tent before the encampment disbanded,” read the accompanying story, “they were the archetype of an Occupy couple: he, a red-headed Mainer with tattoos on his arms; she, a petite upstate New York girl with a heart-shaped face and a boyish haircut, wearing a knit grandmother sweater three sizes too big.”

Good details — but the story failed to mention one big one: Robert “Red” Stitham, the 25 year-old beau whose relationship with Anya Karasik, 18, is the focus of the piece, is a Level 3 sex offender…

In 2007, a Barnstable County jury convicted Stitham of two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, and he was sentenced to 18 months with time served, court records state.

According to online state Appeals Court records, the victim testified that she was assaulted by Stitham and another man after the trio decided to go swimming at a beach after midnight on June 7, 2005. The victim testified that she did not consent to having sex with Stitham or the other man, according to court records…

In an email to the Herald, Karasik wrote: “Yes, I am aware of this. Yes, I am perfectly fine with it.”

Well, of course she is. What’s another rapist at an Occupy camp?

As for the Globe, they’re now saying they wouldn’t have run the story if they’d known Stitham was a registered sex offender. Which just leaves one question: Why did they run it at all?

P.S. Apparently there’s no big rush to find out who threw a smoke bomb over the White House fence, maybe because it was an Occupier and not a Tea Partier. And back at Occupy DC, guess who’s paying for their Porta-Potties? HINT: Not them.

P.P.S. Note to Occupy DC: If this were an actual police state, you’d be too terrified to chant, “This is what a police state looks like.”
