CHARLESTON, S.C. — Another tea party leader says she sees signs that grassroots conservative activists are getting behind Newt Gingrich in the Palmetto State ahead of Saturday’s primary.
“I think in South Carolina, from what I’m hearing, a lot of the tea party people are behind Newt,” Jenny Beth Martin told The Daily Caller during a brief interview in the spin room after Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate.
TheDC reported Thursday that other tea party leaders are saying similar things about the former House Speaker. One hundred tea party leaders from 25 states endorsed Gingrich on Thursday.
