1.) Has a movie finally been made that’s worse than “Battlefield Earth”? — This April in Europe, get ready for what most assuredly will be the leading contender for worst movie of the year, if not decade, if not several decades. TheDC’s Taylor Bigler provides a summary:
“Six years from now, Nazis will descend from their swastika-shaped space station and attempt to takeover the world. But a Sarah Palin look-alike won’t have any of it. At least, this is the premise for a new film, ‘Iron Sky.'”
The Finnish film reportedly fails to make any mention of the Nazis’ predilection for killing Jews. That’s even worse than making a movie about Canadians without mentioning their tendency to be irrelevant.
2.) Media Matters, an organization for the 1 percent — Apparently the media matters mostly to liberal foundations, not the grassroots. TheDC’s David Martosko reports on who funds Media Matters:
“Relying on tax returns and websites of wealthy U.S. foundations, a Daily Caller investigation has revealed the sources of more than $28.8 million in funding collected by the liberal Media Matters for America since 2003, the year before its formal incorporation. That sum represents 54 percent of every dollar the organization has raised in its history, making Media Matters a principally foundation-driven — not citizen-supported — activist group.”
3. ) Sometimes better never than late — Nearly two months after she agreed to answer TheDC’s questions, Callista Gingrich finally responded. TheDC’s Caroline May reports on some of the long anticipated responses:
“Should Mrs. Gingrich take [Michelle Obama’s] place, she explained, her focus would be on music, on “reinforc[ing] the importance of learning American history’ and on raising awareness about cancer and early detection. ‘As a musician, I believe that music is a vital part of a complete education,’ she told TheDC. ‘Music teaches discipline, character, teamwork, and self-expression. Studies indicate that music students show higher levels of proficiency in science and math. Unfortunately, many schools are forced to cut or eliminate entire music programs. I would work hard to communicate the importance of music education as a vital part of a complete education.’”
How fascinating.
4.) Is Mitt treating Trump like a chump? — Since being endorsed by The Donald, Mitt Romney hasn’t appeared together with the modest real estate mogul or even trumpeted his endorsement. Some close to Trump, reports TheDC’s Alex Pappas, are sensing unease over this. But Pappas reports that top Trump adviser Michael Cohen scoffs at the notion that there are problems in Trumpland:
“But asked by The Daily Caller if Trump feels that Romney has been brushing him off, Michael Cohen, a top adviser to Trump, strongly denied it. ‘I’m curious as to why you would say that,’ he said with incredulity. ‘They speak a lot,’ Cohen said. ‘There are certain things that are in the works right now that I think would question the accuracy of your statement.’”
For those waiting with baited breath as to how this will play out, wait no longer. Here’s how it will go down. If Romney wins the nomination, Trump will claim credit for it. If Romney doesn’t win the nomination, Trump will say it was because Romney didn’t ask him for more help.
5.) Poll of the Day –– Rasmussen Reports poll of Ohio GOP presidential primary: Rick Santorum 42%, Mitt Romney 24%, Newt Gingrich 13%, Ron Paul 10%. The primary takes place March 6.
6.) BIRTHDAYS — Third down Jimmy Brown turns 76; “comedian” Larry the Cable Guy turns 49 (h/t Carrot Top); His Airness Michael Jordan turns 49; famous for being famous Paris Hilton turns 31.
