Remember what happened the last time Obama weighed in on a local police matter even though — or maybe because — it was racially charged? Remember how well that worked out for him?
He doesn’t. Matt Boyle reports:
President Barack Obama urged law enforcement officials involved with the case of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin’s killing at all levels – up through the federal government – to conduct a thorough investigation on Friday.
“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said in answer to a question on the issue following his remarks in the White House Rose Garden Friday morning. “And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this.”
“I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how something like this happened,” Obama added.
We do? That’s weird, Mr. President, because I wasn’t there and I don’t know exactly what happened, and neither were you. So what’s your preferred result of this soul-searching? Why does Trayvon Martin’s death matter more than that of anyone else who was killed in the past month? Because he looked like you?
Go ahead and say it, President Obama: The Hispanic guy acted stupidly.

P.S. Whereas this crime doesn’t matter because the victim would never be mistaken for Obama’s son.
