On Friday, President Obama announced his highly-anticipated nominee for president of the World Bank.

Dartmouth College president Dr. Jim Yong Kim is now poised to head up the international organization after its current president steps down on June 30. Kim, a McArthur Fellow, is a physician and professor as well as a champion for HIV/AIDS research. He has been president of the Ivy League school since 2009.

While Kim’s expertise on global health issues is widely known, it is his rapping skills that seem to have gone unnoticed — until now.

In a video posted last year on Ivy Gate, a news and gossip blog that covers the eight Ivy League schools, Kim is seen doing a rendition of the Black Eyed Peas song “The Time,” a remix of the “Dirty Dancing” theme, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”

Dartmouth has its own version of “American Idol,” aptly titled “Dartmouth Idol,” and Kim made a show-stopping cameo in a performance with students, complete with studded, white leather jacket/spaceman suit and green glow stick accessories.

We wonder if Kim was chosen in spite of — or because of — his variation on the robot.
