An assistant to Washington, D.C., Mayor Vincent Gray has been charged with aiding and abetting and obstruction of justice following a federal investigation.
Thomas W. Gore has been charged with three counts of making a campaign contribution in another person’s name. He is also facing one count of destroying records in a federal investigation, WUSA-TV9 reports.
Gore allegedly took funds from Gray’s campaign and made contributions to mayoral candidate Sulaimon Brown using different names. Gore moved funds three times using money orders, donating $355, $100 and $100, NBC-TV4 reports.
The U.S. attorney also alleged that Gore destroyed a spiral notebook where the contributions were recorded.
