Queen Latifah, who has been a spokeswoman for Jenny Craig since 2008, has a big fat secret: While she is peddling healthy lifestyle products, she actually owns a Fatburger fast-food chain franchise.
The details of Latifah’s Fatburger ownership came to light in court Tuesday during the trial of her business partner, James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond. Rosemond is on trial for using his music-industry business as a cover for smuggling cocaine from Los Angeles to New York, the New York Post reports.
The renowned hip-hop star became a Jenny Craig spokeswoman in 2008 and has been promoting the company’s products ever since. However, she partnered with Rosemond and aimed to establish several Fatburger franchises in Miami — a clear divergence from the healthy lifestyle she was boasting with Jenny Craig.
“I don’t think she wanted it to be public that she was involved with Fatburger,” a road manager for Rosemond said in a Brooklyn court Tuesday.
Fatburger’s menu items include a 24-ounce Triple Kingburger, chili cheese Fat Fries, onion rings, and 16-ounce milkshakes.
On the other hand, Jenny Craig offers portion-controlled meals for dieting women, with no dish tipping the 300 calorie mark.
