A source with knowledge of the show who spoke on condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to speak on the matter said Wednesday, June 20, 2012 that NBC is discussing a plan to ease Curry out of the co-hosting role. Curry to receive $10 million as ex-’Today’ host

TMZ reported that outgoing “Today” host Ann Curry will receive $10 million under the terms of the contract she signed last year.

Curry will likely become a foreign correspondent for NBC News, and a well-paid one at that. Because her “Today” contract guarantees Curry $10 million a year, NBC must pay here even though she will no longer be hosting the popular morning show.

Several media outlets reported last week that Curry was to be replaced after approximately one year on the job. For the first time in decades, ABC’s “Good Morning America” beat “Today” in ratings this spring, presumably leading to the decision to let Curry go.
