Ex-Politico reporter Joe Williams fights “Republican war on women,” actual woman

Over the weekend, Politico and their embattled White House correspondent Joe Williams mutually decided that he won’t be getting a paycheck from them anymore. This development came after he went on TV last month and said something very stupid:

And then it was discovered that he’d gone on Twitter and said some other stupid things:

None of it was his fault, of course. He was just another victim of the “right wing noise machine.”

But Williams’ problems don’t stop there. It’s going to be interesting to see how he blames right-wingers for the following fact, courtesy of Fishbowl DC:

It turns out there’s another side to Joe Williams, the White House Correspondent and former college football player who recently parted ways with Politico. On May 24 of this year, he plead [sic] guilty to second degree assault against his ex-wife, paid a $200 fine and received six months of probation. His probation ends on November 24, 2012. Other charges he plead out include disorderly conduct and affray (i.e. a public order offense that consists of fighting in a public place). His ex-wife, author Amy Alexander, obtained a year long court order against him that began in February, 2012…

On February 6, 2012, there was a hearing at the District Court in Silver Spring, Md. Case type: Domestic Violence. Plaintiff: Amy Alexander. Defendant: Williams Joseph P Jr. The result was as follows:

COURT ORDERS:
SHALL NOT ABUSE
SHALL NOT CONTACT
SHALL NOT ENTER RESIDENCE
SHALL STAY AWAY FROM SCHOOL
SHALL STAY AWAY FROM CHILD CARE PROVIDERS
CUSTODY

February 2012. That’s odd, because just one month later, Williams went on MSNBC and said this about Rush Limbaugh and the “Republican war on women”:

“It reminds me of how, when I used to cover police, they always would catch the serial murderer because he was driving around with a busted taillight, not because he had, like, three bodies in the trunk. I mean they would always have some incident to really capture him on and this was Rush Limbaugh’s.”

What a vivid metaphor. So, Limbaugh is like a serial killer because he called a woman a slut. And we know this is true because it’s coming from a guy who just pleaded guilty to second-degree assault against his own ex-wife.

This might be bad news for Joe Williams, but it’s great news for anybody who wants to go on MSNBC. They’re definitely not going to run a background check on you or anything. Just spout the proper liberal bromides and you’re in!

I wonder how Politico would report on, say, a Fox News contributor pleading guilty to second-degree assault on his ex-wife? Nah, they’d probably skip that story, wouldn’t they?

P.S.
