Jeff Poor reports on Michael Bloomberg’s latest nuggest of wisdom:

On CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on Monday, New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said that law enforcement officers should consider going on strike until new gun control regulations are passed.

“I don’t understand,” Bloomberg told his fellow gun control advocate and host Piers Morgan, “why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say, ‘We’re going to go on strike. We’re not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.’”

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard a politician say. And I listen to Obama. Hey, how about we stop fires by banning water?

“If you people can’t behave yourselves, we’ll just get rid of all the cops!” Yeah, genius, because then people won’t want to own guns anymore. I thought gun-control advocates were all about crime victims waiting for the cops to show up, rather than being able to defend themselves as is their Constitutional right. Now Bloomberg wants to take that away. If you want to know what happens after that, just rent Escape from New York.

How about this: If Bloomberg wants to teach everyone a lesson about guns, he should start with his own security detail. Disarm them, or just fire them, and go about his daily life with no guns to protect him. Show New Yorkers how it’s done. Show the world.

No? Didn’t think so.

Or better yet, Mr. Mayor, since you think banning things solves problems, why not ban crime? Then nobody will commit crimes anymore. Yay!

People who exercise their rights responsibly should not be punished for those who abuse those rights. That’s why they’re called rights.

Not only is Bloomberg’s advocation of a police strike moronic, it might be illegal. Hey, don’t look at us, New Yorkers. You keep reelecting this clown.
