As President Barack Obama was departing his impromptu White House press briefing on Monday, ABC News White House correspondent Jake Tapper offered some parting words.

“Don’t be a stranger,” Tapper called out.

Tapper’s sentiment seemed to express a consensus within the White House press corps. Prior to the Monday appearance, Obama had not made a solo press conference since June 19.
