Fan falls to death from escalator during Texans-Vikings game

A fun sporting event took a turn for the worst when a fan fell to his death from an escalator at the Coca-Cola Gate near the northeast side of Reliant Stadium Thursday.

The unidentified 45-year-old man, who was attending the Houston Texans final preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, fell three stories after trying to slide down the escalator handrail, CBS Houston reports.

The man landed on pavement and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Memorial Hermann Southwest.

Sources told CBS Houston the deceased was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
