In a joint interview with Tom Hanks, Halle Berry told Extra that she is a distant relative of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Berry and Hanks are promoting their upcoming movie, “Cloud Atlas” — a sci-fi adventure film that plays into the interconnected nature of humankind.
Berry is a vocal supporter of President Barack Obama, has been photographed wearing Obama t-shirts in public, and was one of his primary donors for the 2009 inauguration, according to The New York Times.
She joked that her initial reaction to finding out about the relationship was a loud, shrieking “No!”
It’s not the first time a celebrity has been taken aback by ancestry.
On the Lisa Kudrow-produced show “Who Do You Think You Are,” actress Sarah Jessica Parker was shocked to find out she had an ancestor who was falsely charged and arrested during the Salem Witch Trials, and actress Kim Cattrall struggled upon finding out that her grandfather was a bigamist.
Berry didn’t specify her familial tie to Palin, but said it is “distant.”
