In the foreign-policy presidential debate Monday night, Mitt Romney hit President Barack Obama for what conservatives have called an “apology tour” during the beginning months of his presidency in 2009.

“The president began what I have called an ‘apology tour,’ of going to various nations in the Middle East and criticizing America. … Then when there were dissidents in the streets of Tehran, a Green Revolution, holding signs saying,’Is America with us?’ the president was silent.”

Romney contended that the mullahs in Iran took notice of these things, and of Obama’s statement that “he was going to create ‘daylight’ between ourselves and Israel,” and that these events emboldened them.
