The Boeing 787 Dreamliner took its first commercial flight for United Airlines Sunday, going from Houston to Chicago.

The plane has been engineered to be more comfortable for passengers, more advanced in terms of avionics and above all more fuel efficient, using 20 percent less fuel than the comparative Boeing 767. It will be able to seat between 210 and 290 passengers, depending on its configuration. The plane took its first flight in December 2009.

The plane, which retails for between $200 million and $250 million, will be built at the Boeing plant in Everett, Washington.
