Chris Matthews thanks Hurricane Sandy

“I’m so glad we had that storm last week. ‘Cause I think the storm was one of those things. No. Politically, I should say. Not in terms of hurting people. The storm brought in possibilities for good politics.”

Even Scary Larry is shaking his head. You’re not supposed to say it, Chris.

But take heart, victims of Hurricane Sandy. Your lives may be ruined, but try to see the bigger picture: At least President Obama didn’t have to give a concession speech.

Reminds me of another fine moment in 2012 election reporting. Around 10:45 on ABC last night, when Romney’s hopes were fading fast and Diane Sawyer had obviously started celebrating already, she threw it out to some newsdude who was standing in Times Square interviewing a group of really smart Obama voters. After chatting with a young lady who said she voted for Obama because of his foreign policy — obviously an ABC viewer — the newsdrone started talking to a guy who got hit by Hurricane Sandy.

Literally in the middle of the poor bastard’s sentence about how he hasn’t had power for over a week, they interrupted him to exult in the breaking news of Obama’s win in New Mexico.

Priorities.
