President Barack Obama’s 10:35 p.m. thank-you e-mail to his supporters included a fund-raising solicitation.

“I’m about to go speak to the crowd here in Chicago, but I wanted to thank you first… Today is the clearest proof yet that, against the odds, ordinary Americans can overcome powerful interests,” read the statement.

Just after his signature, comes one additional paragraph.

“Because you’ve saved your payment information, your donation will go through immediately:

“QUICK DONATE: $3 // $35 // $50 // $100 // $250 // Or donate another amount.”

Any additional money may go to left over debts, or to other political campaigns in 2013 and 2014.

In New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie faces a 2013 election amid the storm wreckage that helped Obama jog up his poll ratings over the final week of the campaign.

In Virginia, the governor’s slot will be up for grabs in 2013 — one year before the next mid-term elections.
